Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the creative thinking and cognitive flexibility levels of nursing students according to their academic success.

Material and Methods: The population of this cross-sectional study consisted of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade nursing students (N=800). Sample selection was not made in the study, and the whole population was tried to be reached (n=744). Data were collected with Introductory Information Form, Marmara Creative Thinking Dispositions Scale, and Cognitive Flexibility Inventory

Results: 52.0% of the students participating in the research were under 21 years of age, 75.5% were women, 40.5% were first-year students, and 70.8% perceived course success as moderate. Cognitive Flexibility Inventory and Marmara Creative Thinking Tendency Scale mean scores of the nursing students were 74.88±9.64 and 96.29±12.12, respectively. When the academic achievement of the students and the mean scores of the scales were compared, it was determined that those with "good" academic achievement status had higher mean scores than those with "moderate" level, and those with "moderate" level had higher mean scores than those with "pass" level (p<0.05).

Conclusion: Cognitive flexibility and creativity of nursing students were found to be above average. Students' cognitive flexibility and creativity skills can be increased to higher levels by using appropriate methods in nursing education.
