Nurse's Role in the Prevention of Health Problems in Scuba Diving and Divings

Scuba diving is a sport which is becoming widespread day by day and causing health problems and injuries if necessary precautions were not taken. Barotraumas, decompression disease, pulmonary edema, and problems resulting from the pharmacological and toxic effects of gases are the main health problems encountered in scuba diving. Ensuring safe diving is important in preventing these problems. To ensure safe diving, the precautions including the evaluation of technical equipments, education and health before, during and after diving should be taken. In order to provide safe diving in scuba diving which has become popular today, nursing profession also takes an important role. It is crucial for maintenance, enhancement and development of health that the nurse plays his/her instructional part according to dynamic life conditions and current events. Within these implications health problems of divers during diving will be minimized and safety of diving will be provided.
