The Relationship between Perceived Education Stress and Internet Addiction among Nursing Students

Aim: This study aims to investigate the relationship between perceived education stress and internet addiction among nursing students.

Material and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 258 students between March and April 2016. Data were collected by using Nursing Education Stress Scale and Internet Addiction Scale. Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis, and Spearman Correlation tests were used for statistical evaluation of the data.

Results: The average age of students is 20.87 ± 0.95. The mean scores of the students on the Nursing Education Stress Scale; 55.17±15.01 for the total score, 27.64±7.83 for the practice level, 27.51±7.82 for the academic level, and Internet Addiction Scale mean score is 34.29 ± 12.26. It was determined that there is a significant positive correlation between practice and academic stress sub-dimensions, and there is no relationship between the Nursing Education Stress Scale and the Internet Addiction Scale.

Conclusion: The research results show that students perceive moderate stress related to nursing education, have no internet addiction, and have a low risk of addiction.
