Aim: This study was conducted to determine the obstacles
experienced by nursing students in research and use of results.
Material and Methods:This study was descriptive type. The universe of the study consisted of 348 nursing students studying in the nursing department of a university between March and May 2019, and the sample consisted of 241 nursing students. The data were collected with an introductory information questionnaire and the Attitude Scale Towards Scientific Research. Results: The mean age of students was 20.97 ± 1.51 and 78.0% were women. The percentage of students who didn’t take part in research was 90.9%. Only 21.6% of the students read a scientific publication, and 29.9% followed periodicals in nursing. The “Negative Attitude towards Research" subscale score was found to be 18.71 ± 4.98, and the "Positive Attitude towards Research" subscale scores were found to be 23.50 ± 5.81. It was determined that negative attitude towards research was significantly higher in students who didn’t know to access data sources (p <0.05), and positive attitude towards research was significantly higher in students who followed periodicals in nursing (p <0.05). Conclusion: According to the study results, it was found that the nursing students did not have sufficient information about the research and the students who did not know how to access the data sources and preferred the nursing department without willingness had negative attitudes towards the research. |
