Evaluation of Postgraduate Theses In the Field of Occupational Health Nursing in Turkey Between 2009-2016

Aim: The aim of the study was to investigate some characteristics of the postgraduate theses conducted in the field of occupational health nursing between 2009-2016 in Turkey.

Material and Methods: Search terms included “occupational health”, “employee health” and “nursing” were used separately and together on the database of the National Council of Higher Education Thesis Center. The Thesis Evaluation Form was developed by the researchers.

Results: As a result of the search, 15 theses were reached and it was found that 86.7% of them were master thesis. It was also determined that 53.8% of the thesis were conducted in the public health nursing field, mostly in Marmara University (23.0%) and in the year of 2009 (30.7%). 73.2% of the theses used descriptive research techniques. Questionnaires, scales and OMAHA Classification System were used in these theses as data collection tools.

Conclusion: It was determined that the majority of theses were master thesis and used descriptive research type. There was a decrease in the number of thesis conducted in the field of occupational health according to years and the majority of studies were not published yet.
