Material and Methods: The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 269 students enrolled in the undergraduate nursing program at a private university in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus during the 2015-2016 academic year spring semester. Personal Information Form, Nursing Education Stress Scale and Arıcak Professional Self-esteem Scale” were used as data collection tools.

Results: The study revealed that the female students and the students who choose their profession voluntarily had higher self-esteem. The education stress of the second and thirdyear students was higher than the first and last year students. No relation was found between the educational stress and professional self-esteem of the nursing students.

Conclusion: In the light of the results, it is suggested that interventions should be planned to increase professional self-esteem of male students, curricula should be reorganized in order to reduce educational stress of the second and third year students and further studies should be carried out with wider samples and different measurement tools.
